Relax and enjoy the peace and restfulness of
a rural village!
Immediately opposite Old Manor House stands the 800 year-old parish
church of St. Remigius.
300yds to the east is the renowned Long Clawson Dairy, where you can
buy its world famous Stilton Cheese.
The village is well served for sustenance having a good café and
delicatessen open during the day and a pub which serves food most
evenings.
There are many country footpaths and bridleways for which we can
supply maps, for walks varying between a short afternoon stroll and
a day’s hike taking in the Grantham Canal, Roman Salt Way or the
nearby Jubilee Way.
Within 10 mile radius: The market town of Melton Mowbray lies 7 miles to the south, the
heart of ‘Pork Pie Country’. Street markets are held every Tuesday
and Saturday and a vibrant livestock market every Tuesday along with
an antique market. On Wednesday there is a smaller curio market and
a Farmers’ market on Fridays. Horse sales are held every second
Saturday. Melton Mowbray boasts many small, local traders as well as
national multiples. St. Mary’s Church, one of the most stunning in
Leicestershire, is situated next to the 13th century Anne of Cleves
House, and opposite the 17th Century Bede Houses. Sporting
facilities include swimming pools, golf courses, and sports
grounds.
Twinlakes Park provides a full day’s entertainment with
both indoor and outdoor activities for younger visitors.
The
picturesque village of Holwell, 3 miles away, has a nature reserve as well
as a series of fishing lakes, whilst Six Hills, 4 miles away, has a Jetski Centre
and a golf course.
The renowned
Ragdale Hall health hydro is 6 miles away.
The village of Langar, 8 miles distant, has the
British Parachute
School and the
Langar Karting Club as well as
Naturescape, a
wildflower farm.
The crowning glory of the Vale of Belvoir has to be
Belvoir Castle,
home of the Duke and Duchess of Rutland. Open Tuesdays – Thursdays
and with special events most weekends.
